Energy efficiency grants for small businesses

The Morrison Government is delivering on its commitment to help small businesses lower their power bills and play their part in reducing Australia’s emissions.

Small businesses can apply for a grant of up to $20,000 for energy efficiency projects to reduce their energy costs and help lower emissions. Small businesses will share in $9 million of grants under the Australian Government’s $40 million Energy Efficient Communities Program. 

Who are the grants aimed at?
Small businesses with an annual turnover of less than $10 million.

What are the grants for?
The grants will support small businesses to:

  • Replace existing equipment – such as motors, air conditioners, air compressors – with more efficient equipment
  • Install or replace a component to help an existing system run more efficiently
  • Carry out energy audits or energy efficiency investment feasibility studies
  • Monitor energy use and emissions Batteries and on-site energy generators such as solar panels are not eligible.

How much are the grants?
Between $5,000 and $20,000, with no co-contribution required.

Important dates
Applications open on 6 July 2020.
Applications close on 26 August 2020
