State Update with Hermann Vorster

The Crisafulli LNP Government is working hard to restore safety where we live. But we know it is just as important to restore safety in our workplaces and urban villages.
That is why a few weeks ago I supported new laws to tackle anti-social behaviour affecting business communities right across Queensland.
These changes mean police will have new powers to move on and ban those who are threatening staff, customers and locals in designated business precincts.
These new powers will first be rolled out in Maryborough, but I am already campaigning to bring them here to Burleigh. I would appreciate your support.
In the meantime, we’re starting to see some great results from our $4.7 million safety intervention in Burleigh.
Our new police beat means help is on hand during daytime trading hours – and that police have a base of operations when looking after us in the evenings.
The new late-night support service has seen a dramatic reduction in liquor involved incidents and helped 8,500 young people get home safely.
And $500,000 has been secured for Council to expand its safety camera network throughout our parks and open spaces.
As a local business, you can access funding to support the installation of your own safety cameras and other measures to keep your team and customers safe.
More information about applying for our Secure Communities Partnership Program is available online.
