April 2013 Breakfast Guest Speakers:
Kathleen Green - Gecko - Gold Coast and Hinterland Environment Council
The Lock the Gate Alliance was formed in 2010 following community meetings in New South Wales and Queensland. Over the eastern states, people were raising concern about the rapid expansion of coal and coal seam gas developments. A declaration was made by the group: farmers would lock their gates to these industries. Two years on and the Alliance continues to gain momentum with rural and urban communities over Australia stepping up to defend their land, water, and future from the coal and coal seam gas industries.
Brenda Jackson - Job Development Officer, Cerebral Palsy League, Mylestones Employment
