Mayor Tom Tate has been in office for over 6 years now following his first election in 2012 and re-election in 2016.

We’re looking forward to understanding Mayor Tate’s vision for building the future for the Southern Gold Coast. Infrastructure developments such as widening the M1, light rail and upgrades to the airport and Southern Cross University are going to be potential drivers for the local economy.

These all fit well with Mayor Tate’s focus for the future to build on the legacy of the Games so that the Gold Coast is full of opportunities. By focusing on the key areas of transport and digital infrastructure; health, education and knowledge; events; culture and business investment, Mayor Tate is making sure the Gold Coast is staying way ahead when it comes to a stronger economy, more jobs and protecting the city’s enviable lifestyle.

Mayor Tate has committed to reducing the cost of living pressure facing residents, reform Council, cut waste and broaden the Gold Coast’s economic base beyond its cornerstones of tourism and construction.
