February 2019 Breakfast with Karen Andrews MP

Karen Andrews is the Federal Member for McPherson and Minister for Industry, Science & Technology in the Coalition Government. She brings a wealth of business, industry and community experience to her roles as a Minister, Member of Parliament and Local Representative.

She was appointed to Cabinet as Minister for Industry, Science & Technology in August 2018. One of the ﬁrst females to graduate as an engineer from the University of Queensland in 1983, Karen has long championed the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in education and training.

Locally, Karen is an accessible and visible member of the community and a strong supporter of the not-for-proﬁt sector. As a local member, she works with community groups to deliver practical beneﬁts to her Gold Coast electorate and beyond, and is Patron of many local community organisations.

Before entering Parliament, Karen and her husband established and ran their own human resources and industrial relations consultancy with a strong client base throughout Australia and New Zealand. Karen is married with three children.
