About the Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation (NRRC):
The Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation (NRRC) will be our guest speaker at our next after dark event on Thursday June 15th at Little Cooly, Coolangatta, providing insight into the works required to rebuild the region following the February – March 2022 floods.
Figures released by the Insurance Council of Australia estimate the costs and scale of the damage to homes, business and infrastructure caused by the floods at more than $5.56 billion, the largest in Australian history. In addition, there was already a pre-flood infrastructure pipeline of $3.5 billion in the Northern Rivers
Our June chamber event provides an opportunity to meet and speak with the key personnel from NRRC involved in the reconstruction, who in their presentation will cover the program of works, including the Resilient Homes Program and public infrastructure pipeline.
The focus will also be on how Southern Gold Coast trades and industry can be involved and connected to provide complementary support to Northern Rivers local trades, industry, local councils, and state government to get the rebuild underway.
The scope and magnitude of the work is significant, and the Northern Rivers cannot complete the works on their own. The Northern Rivers need Southern Gold Coast industry and workforce to be part of building-back-better with the view of as many small, medium, and large businesses involved from both regions.
The NRRC is here to support local industry and build capacity and capability across the region for the long term. Southern Gold Coast businesses can help achieve this legacy benefit objective, not only by delivering the program of works, however also strengthen the Northern Rivers local business capability and capacity for the future.
