KEY SPEAKERS:
Steve Mitchell, CEO Gold Coast Titans
Steve Mitchell is an experienced sports executive, having worked in senior roles across major clubs and codes within Australia over the past two decades. Currently the CEO of the Gold Coast Titans, Steve has provided strategic direction to the National Rugby League franchise, including the delivery of the club’s 2030 strategic plan. In his time at the Titans, Steve has overseen significant growth that has included a doubling of the club’s commercial program, the highest member numbers in the club history, leading the club’s push into both NRLW and Netball competitions, developing Future Titans pathway programs for elite junior talent, building administrative capability, resulting in financial sustainability and strength. The club’s purpose is to make its communities proud, inspire them with energy and unite them through success. This is the mantra with which Steve leads the organisation, combining revenue generation with genuine community connection to ensure the long-term stability and growth of the club.
Steve has a wealth of commercial experience, having led commercial operations at the North Queensland Cowboys and Melbourne Rebels, as well as experience in broadcast media. Prior to his role at the Titans, Steve was the CEO of Touch Football Australia, working with the NRL to grow the sport nationally.
Anthony Laffranchi, GM of Football, Gold Coast Titans
Anthony Laffranchi is a former professional rugby league player and an integral figure in the history of the Gold Coast Titans. Born on October 16, 1980, in Murwillumbah, New South Wales, Laffranchi began his professional career with the Wests Tigers, where he was part of the 2005 Premiership-winning team.
In 2007, Laffranchi joined the newly formed Gold Coast Titans and quickly became known as a hardworking and versatile forward. Known for his relentless work rate and leadership on and off the field, he represented the Titans with distinction in 102 games between 2007 and 2011, scoring 26 tries.
Laffranchi's is a NSW State of Origin and Australian Kangaroos Representative. His commitment and team first mentality made him a fan favourite during his Titans tenure.
After retiring from playing, Laffranchi transitioned into off-field roles, becoming an ambassador for the Titans and taking on responsibilities within the club's operations as the General Manager of Footballg, overseeing the many different functions of the NRL Team. He remains a respected figure in the rugby league community and continues to contribute to the development of the sport in the Gold Coast region.
His legacy as a foundation player and leader is firmly etched into the Titans' history.
