Daylight Saving
Should we press for a change to Daylight Savings, or are we going to wait until the cows go home, or the curtains fade before we join the rest of Australia? What’s your view?? Let us know how your business is affected so we can let the politians know too!
How many of you have made an appointment only to find that the person who you spoke to was from NSW and had intended that the meeting or event you were planning to attend was an hour ago? How many times have you tried to get to Melbourne of Sydney for a meeting or all day event in the morning and found that you had to fly down the night before and pay extra for a night in a hotel to be on time? How many times have you tried to call in the afternoon in summer and found that the business you were calling is not in QLD and has gone home for the day.
Let us know your views here. Should we press for a change to Daylight Savings, or are we going to wait until the cows go home, or the curtains fade before we join the rest of Australia? What’s your view?? Let us know how your business is affected so we can let the politians know too!
Stop the politics and get on with supporting AUSTRALIA. We all should be united, now even more so. Definitely support daylight savings for ALL QLD.
I believe that the boundary for daylight savings should be the Tropic of Capricorn with everything South of that being on daylight savings. This way the major cities of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth are on all year round same trading hours. With the majority of Australia's tourism and major events being located in these cities and surrounds, it would definitely help with our economy with interstate movements
leaving the people, their cows and curtains that are most against it happy in the Northern sector and understandably, as they are closer to the Equator with already longer days. The positives far outweigh the negatives if you put pen to paper on this proposal

As the owner of St Helens Bar & Kitchen in Kirra, I believe that the time change during Summer impacts the whole sector of my industry. Being a transplant from the Southern States, I truly cannot understand why there is no daylight saving when the weather up here is consistently so beautiful during the summer. These sentiments are echoed by nearly everybody I talk to!
The extra hour of daylight would (in my opinion) bolster the trade of many businesses in the area while bringing us into line with the rest of the East Coast.
With ScoMo, it's probably going to be talking to the hand, but we should lobby the federal government to fix this.
The sun striking the earth from east to west as it trns, doesn't recognize state borders any more than bushfires or pandemics do,
States & provinces in The US & Canada have time zone lines dissecting them based on this; some 15 states in each country.
There's no reason why western QLD & NSW for that reason can't go onto central time which would remove the phenomena of DST being excessive in the west, while advantageous in the east.
You can "split" a state, without "slitting" it. It's never been tried before, only all in & all out. Why it didn't work in the QLD 1989-1992 trial.
