The 2023 Gold Coast Australian of the Year Awards nominations are now open!
Role models — we all need someone to look up to, and the Gold Coast Australian of the Year Awards is a prestigious event recognising outstanding citizens who have truly made a difference in their community.
The Gold Coast Australian of the Year Awards honours individuals who have accomplished greatness despite challenges, achieved excellence in their career, or have impacted their community positively. The awards also serve as a pathway to success at the National Australia Day Council's Australian of the Year Awards. The categories include Gold Coast Australian of the Year, Gold Coast Senior Australian of the Year, Gold Coast Young Australian of the Year, and Gold Coast Local Hero.
Dr Hal Rice was awarded the Gold Coast Australian of the Year last year for his work in positioning the Gold Coast as the epicentre of stroke diagnosis, research, and treatment. The Gold Coast Senior Australian of the Year recognises individuals aged 65 and over who continue to achieve, inspire or make a difference within the wider community. Similarly, the Gold Coast Young Australian of the Year honours those aged 16 to 30 who have overachieved in a particular field or endeavour.
Lastly, the Gold Coast Local Hero award acknowledges individuals who make a difference to the community beyond simple gestures. The award aims to encourage people to reflect on their contribution towards creating a better community.
Supported by myGC, the 2023 Gold Coast Australian of the Year Awards provides a platform to acknowledge the exceptional individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Gold Coast community. Nominations close on Sunday 2nd April, and individuals can register their nominations or learn more about the eligibility criteria by visiting the official website.
