City of Gold Coast joins Small Business Friendly Councils Program
Hilary Jacobs (Past President - Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce) was thrilled to present at the official event when the City of Gold Coast Council became the 46th Queensland council to become a signatory to the Small Business Friendly Councils Program.
The Small Business Friendly Council program has grown substantially over the last 4 years. Small businesses employ well over 95% of all employees in Queenslanders and over 76,000 small businesses exist on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast chambers including The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce have been working behind the scenes to encourage this to happen. This now ensures that the small business community is front of mind when the Council considers policy which may influence how small businesses do their business. It also means that there is a real commitment to reducing council red tape for small businesses and making like easier when dealing with Council Departments.
This marks a significant milestone in achievement for the Chambers and the City of Gold Coast.
There were a number of Chamber Presidents and representatives at the event along with the Minister – Di Farmer, the Small Business Commissioner, Domenique Lamb and the Mayor, Tom Tate at the Charter signing event last Thursday.
