Happy Queensland Day 2024
Yesterday we celebrated Queensland Day, our state's birthday!
It’s 165 years since Queensland’s official separation from New South Wales as an independent colony on 6 June 1859.
Landmarks across the state were proudly lit maroon, the state’s official colour, as we celebrate the diversity of Queensland communities and shine a light on everyday Queenslanders and their place in our great state.
Queenslanders are also encouraged to show their state pride today by sharing a photo or video of what they love most about Queensland to their Facebook or Instagram. Those who include #MaroonIt in the copy will have the chance to win tickets and vouchers to great Queensland experiences.
To learn more about Queensland Day, how to get involved in the celebrations and to see what landmarks will be lit maroon near you, visit the website and follow Queensland Day on Facebook.
