Mask Wearing EXTENDED
Anyone who has been in City of Gold Coast in the last 14 days must continue to wear a face mask.
Mask will remain mandatory in Queensland for another week with Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young saying that masks may have helped prevent further spread of COVID-19 in the community. Queensland Health have officially directed that if you have been in South East Queensland since 1am AEST on 29 June 2021, you must carry a face mask with you at all times.
You must wear a face mask when you leave home in most indoor and outdoor spaces, unless you have a lawful reason not to.
For example, you must wear a mask in the following locations:
- public transport (including waiting at the station or stop)
- shopping centres, supermarkets, retail outlets and markets
- libraries
- cinemas
- churches and places of worship
- entertainment facilities and sporting stadiums
- recreational facilities and gyms
- indoor workplaces when physical distancing is not possible
- airports and on planes.
Customers will have to wear a mask when in hospitality venues like a restaurant, café or dining part of a club. You can only remove your mask to eat or drink. Staff who interact with patrons need to wear a mask. Back of house staff of hospitality businesses who do not interact with patrons do not have to wear a mask if they can practice physical distancing.
