Member Spotlight: Matthew Barnes Interior Design (MBID)
Established in 2013, this sole trader specialises in residential and small-to-medium scale commercial projects from Byron Bay to Brisbane.
Boasting an impressive 15 years experience in the field, both nationally and abroad, Matthew Barnes considers his job as a vocation; a way of life. Matthew Barnes Interior Design can be engaged for the full design process - Concept, Planning, Design Development, Documentation, Procurement, Supply and Installation. Working with a variety of clients such as home and business owners, developers and councils mean that Mr Barnes must remain highly creative and quick to adapt in order to produce unique, sustainable and high-quality interiors.
Matthew admits, however, border closures created a unique challenge for his business and pushed him to further factor the unforeseeable. Mr Barnes says that lead times have been affected because "no-one can predict a cargo delay or a factory closure". Though challenging, Matthew says this is simply part of the equation now and that it hasn't stopped him from continuing his work. Directly attributing his success to "good working relationships with a broad variety of long-standing suppliers, tradesmen and consultants. This has been fortunate for my operations, my clients and their projects".
The key according to Mr Barnes, however, is being 'a straight shooter' and leaving nothing to chance. Mr Barnes believes that when all parties are clear, in the picture and working as a team; then you can truly begin to tackle any challenge.
