Member Spotlight: Robbins Watson Solicitors
Established in 1958, Robbins Watson Solicitors is a mid-sized, well respected, multi-discipline Gold Coast law firm which has maintained a team of solicitors providing expert legal advice and practical help to clients for over 60 years.
Providing a full suite of client-centric services, the team at Robbins Watson Solicitors blend extensive and up-to-date knowledge of the law with advanced technology to deliver legal services that are "creative, intelligent and tenacious". Holding over 60 years expeirence, this firm has had its offices in the Burleigh area since 1958. Though the firm has seen its fair share of challenges, Sarah Glavin (Senior Solicitor) admits nothing compares to the challenge of finding that hidden stash of toilet paper. Jokes aside, the team seem readily prepared to tackle the modern challenge having already utilised technology extensivly throughout the office. This style of foward thinking and open minded business model meant that the team could offer continuity of service to it's clients, "We have been offering services like online video appointments for overseas clients, working on online internal systems and phone systems to synchronise local and overseas staff". Though nothing could have prepared the team for the increased demand for the “new necessaries”: Hand sanitizer and similar products which became suddenly in short supply.
As the team have continued to embrace technology extensivly throughout their practice, Sarah Galvin says she cannot wait to engaging more with our clients in person: "Clients want to be able to have a personal interaction with their lawyer, to be able to see their solicitor, to talk directly to them and have a good rapport with them. These things are important to a successful solicitor/client relationship and the trust which arises from that relationship."
Robbins Watson Solicitors offers the below tips for member businesses doing it tough:
- Weathering the storm together. Our strong, cohesive team is one of the secrets of our success. The team spirit was handed some challenges recently but ensuring that sense of mutual support was still there by new and creative means helped the ship sail through the bad weather. This can equally apply to professional contacts big and small, for example simply buying a coffee from the local family-run café has helped us maintain that sense of unity.
- Keep up with changes we sailed into the online world without breaking a sweat because we had already invested time and resources into developing the capability for any of our staff to work together cohesively from anywhere, anytime.
- Move fast to make the best of your resources. Whether that be your staff, your tools or stock, pivoting is just the new label for the classic phrase “if life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. We were able to maintain continuity of service to our clients by some quick thinking and manoeuvring of our resources.
