New Suite of Community Courses at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has announced a new suite of Community Courses, endeavouring to provide wildlife skills to community members.
Amelia Bello, Education Manager at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary wanted to offer brand new courses that have never been run before, to allow people to upskill and learn about some of their favourite animals in interactive and positive ways.
''Regardless of what Community Course you choose to do, participants will have the opportunity to work closely with some of our most experienced keepers and veterinary staff to understand about their selected topic," she said.
"Depending on the course you do choose, there is so much to be involved in, from sampling Indigenous culinary delights, expanding your knowledge on native plant species or conditioning techniques to practising basic veterinary nursing skills and safe wildlife handling techniques. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s Community Courses allow participants the exclusive opportunity to get up close with animals they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to meet, while fulfilling their passion to learn more about specific species."
The 7 action-packed programs include:
- Insight into Vet Nursing - Ever wanted to know what it is like to walk in the shoes of a vet nurse? Now you have an opportunity.
- Cooking On Country: Food Adventure - Led by a qualified Indigenous chef, participants will cook multiple recipes, and taste foods made with traditional Indigenous ingredients.
