Palm Beach Currumbin State High - Building future business leaders
The most exciting time of year is here – Australian Business Week (ABW). Palm Beach Currumbin State High is using this chance to teach students the practicality of a simulated business.
Australian Business Week (ABW) is the most challenging and rewarding week of PBC Students' school years. It is a week where students take on the role of business managers in all areas of the business world, and use principles of teamwork, negotiation, creativity and practicality to ‘run’ a simulated business. Awards night on Friday 4 December is the culmination of a week of decisions and deadlines. The highest share price, shareholder presentation, trade displays, advertisement and teamwork winners will be announced at the Awards dinner. PBC Spokesperson, Debbie Reid explains that the goal of the program is:
As students come to realise that in order to successfully run a business, everyone must contribute, compromise, communicate and genuinely want success. Good work ethic is essential. We celebrate success and teamwork so students are rewarded for their efforts.
The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce has been a supporter of PBC and is delighted to see PBC students participating in the ABW program. For over a decade we have provided the teams with business mentors who give up their time to advise and support students in their decision making. The Chambers also provides the participation medallions for every student that takes part – a sponsorship we are proud to continue this year.
We wish all participants best of luck.
