QAL Annual Report - 2023
Queensland Airport Limited's Annual Report for 2023
Following two tumultuous years, QAL have seen passenger numbers recover quickly, particularly at Gold Coast Airport, making it the third fastest Australian airport to return to 2019 domestic passenger numbers. Townsville Airport too saw a rapid recovery, supported by the commencement of three new Bonza routes from Townsville to Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba Wellcamp and Rockhampton. QAL's partnership with Bonza is incredibly important and they’re delighted that Gold Coast Airport will be Bonza’s newest base, servicing 84 flights per week to 14 destinations around Australia, from mid-November onwards.
FY23 also marked a major milestone with the opening of Gold Coast Airport’s Southern Terminal Expansion – a modern three-level development that has doubled the footprint of the terminal – and will support forecast passenger growth in the lead up to, and the legacy of the 2032 Games. QAL remain focused on investing in infrastructure that best positions their airports for sustainable, long-term growth, including recent upgrades to both Townsville and Mount Isa Airports, that were supported by federal government grants.
