QLD Covid support grants have now opened for applications!
Further to the announcements last week, the Qld Covid Support Grants have now opened for applications. The good news is that these grants are now open to more businesses and also they are for larger amounts. This is as a result of the changes following the Federal Government's further support announced last Friday.
In summary:
- Turnover MUST be over $75K annually and be impacted by 30% or more for a week including at least 1 day of the recent QLD lockdowns. This can be compared to 2019 or another period for new businesses* etc.
- Only EMPLOYING businesses may apply
- For payrolls up to $1.3M the grant is now $10,000.
- For payrolls from $1.3M to $10.0M the grant is now $15,000.
- There is a further grant of $30K for businesses that have a payroll over $10M, however, they must be headquartered in Queensland and be either in tourism or hospitality as defined by the ABS ANZSIC codes.

* New businesses can select a suitable metric if 2018- 2019 or 2019-2020 won’t work for your new business.
On the website there are also letters to use to help you to prove your businesses in impacted enough.
The whole aim of this grant is to make it simple to apply for and so that you don’t face big accountancy fees to make an application. There are FAQ’s on the website and guidance to try to streamline the applications where possible.
We are lead to believe that those who made their applications as early as Monday this week as going to be receiving their grants later this week.
Finally, there is also a $1,000 grant available for non-employing businesses which will become available soon. There is a link in the webpage above to express your interest in applying for this grant ready for when the process opens. Note this grant will be administered by Treasury, not DESBT.
