Queensland's Economic Recovery Plan released
The Queensland Government has released the Queensland’s Economic Recovery Plan. The Plan highlights current COVID response measures; including business support programs, (payroll) tax relief, fee relief, tourism grants etc.
It then maps out the strategic direction the government intends to take to shape a longer-term, economic recovery for Queensland.
The Plan outlines six key focus areas:
• Safeguarding our health
• Backing small business
• Making it for Queensland
• Building Queensland
• Growing our regions
• Investing in skills
The Premier and Treasurer sought input into the document from all sectors of the economy, including tourism.
This document is relatively high-level and strategic and is short on some details but provides the framework the government intends to use to direct further investment and policy decisions. It also gives an idea of where Queensland’s budget priorities will be. You would be aware that neither federal nor state/territory budgets for this year has been released under the current circumstances, so this document it the best indicator the Queensland Government’s intent.
