Rydges Gold Coast Airport: First photos inside new southern Gold Coast hotel

The finishing touches are being put on the $50 million Rydges hotel at Gold Coast Airport ahead of its pre-Christmas opening.

More than 100 jobs will be on offer for southern Gold Coast and northern NSW residents when the city’s newest hotel opens. The final stages of fitting out 192 rooms has begun while construction of its exterior has finished. Hotel general manager Luke Harley said Rydges was on the verge of a major recruitment drive that would focus on hiring staff who live in the city’s south. “We are in the final 10 per cent of work and then it is all about training and fitting out the furniture in the public areas,” he said.

The seven-story tower will feature a bar on its ground level as well as a rooftop venue, called the Salty Fox. The hotel is part of the $500 million upgrade of the airport which will also include the expansion of the terminal. It has previously featured in our member spotlight where the team believed that "this is a fantastic project before COVID-19 and will still be a fantastic project post-COVID-19".
