At Solar Set, we’re proud to announce a meaningful new partnership with one of Queensland’s most iconic Surf Life Saving Clubs. In support of Currumbin Beach Vikings SLSC, we’ve recently donated a 23kW solar system to help the Club reduce energy costs and enhance sustainability.
This solar system is designed to generate over 33MWh of clean energy per year, providing significant savings on electricity bills. The Vikings SLSC can now divert those savings towards lifesaving services, beach safety equipment, and other critical operational needs—all while reducing their carbon footprint.
Supporting Local Heroes in Challenging Times
Our sponsorship comes at a crucial time for the Vikings, who have faced operational challenges due to ongoing Seawall Renewal and Oceanway Upgrade Council works. These disruptions have impacted patronage and revenue, making the financial relief from this solar installation even more meaningful.
Michael Sullivan, CEO of Currumbin Vikings SLSC, shared his thoughts on the partnership:
“The solar sponsorship from Solar Set not only helps us lower our electricity costs but allows us to redirect valuable resources towards essential lifesaving services. It’s a win for the Surf Club and the entire community.”
Built for the Harshest Conditions
Due to the club’s prominent location on the beachfront at Elephant Rock, the solar system was designed using only the highest quality components, ensuring long-lasting durability. We selected Canadian Solar modules and Schletter framing, both known for their resilience in extreme coastal environments.
Adam Ligas, Director at Solar Set, emphasized the importance of choosing the right materials:
“The environmental conditions at Currumbin Vikings are tough, but we’ve designed a system that can handle the high winds, salt spray, and challenging elements, ensuring long-term energy performance.”
Proud to Give Back to Our Community
As a local Gold Coast business, supporting the community is at the heart of what we do. Our Director, Kale Fogg, who is also a Vikings Club member, expressed his pride in working on such a unique and meaningful project:
“It’s been an honour to provide this system, knowing it will benefit the Club and community for many years to come. At Solar Set, we’re committed to empowering local businesses with clean, sustainable energy solutions.”
