Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce Walks for Small Business Mental Health Again in 2025

The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that it is once again stepping up for small business owners by participating in the 2025 Walk For A Bloke. This year, Chamber President Zac Revere, Vice President Josh Yates, and Board Member & Chair of Volunteering Gold Coast Ben Naday will be leading the Southern Gold Coast Chamber Team in this important initiative to support mental health awareness among small business owners.

This year, Zac, Josh and Ben will again be walking in the name of Smal Business owners, proudly displaying that throughout the walk, highlighting the importance of mental health support during a time of rising insolvency rates, increasing cost-of-living pressures, and industrial relations (IR) changes that are creating additional challenges for small businesses.

Why This Walk Matters More Than Ever in 2025

Small businesses form the backbone of our economy, but behind every storefront, café, trade service, or consultancy firm is a person facing immense pressures. The economic climate in Queensland and across Australia has never been more challenging, with many business owners navigating rising inflation, cost-of-living struggles, financial strain, and regulatory hurdles.

In times like these, mental health can take a hit, and many small business owners find themselves suffering in silence. Walk For A Bloke is about breaking that silence—bringing the community together to show support, start conversations, and raise much-needed awareness and funds for mental health support services.

In Australia, approximately 65% of small business owners are men, while 35% are women. Notably, female business ownership has seen a significant rise, nearly doubling since the 1970s. The efforts of the chamber by participating in this event is inclusive in nature and ensures that the mental health struggles of both male and female entrepreneurs are acknowledged and addressed.
