The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce has been buzzing with activity these past few months, from strategic meetings to successful events, here's a snapshot of what we've been up to!
Board of Management Updates
Our Board of Management has been diligently translating the vision and strategies set by the Executive Committee into actionable outcomes. Recent meetings have focused on membership growth, event planning, and enhancing our advocacy efforts.
- As of May, we've seen a healthy growth in our active members, with several new members joining and existing members upgrading their memberships.
- Our calendar is packed with exciting events, including Business After Hours and Breakfast Meetings. Highlights include our joint event with the Junior Chamber at Lucia Tapas Bar and an upcoming breakfast at CWS Homestead focused on tourism and events.
Working Group Activities
Our Working Groups have been working tirelessly on various projects to benefit our members:
- Communications Working Group: This team is set to take over the monthly newsletter, ensuring it’s packed with relevant resources and member highlights. They’re also commenced drafting a long-term marketing strategy with a focus to improve the way our Chamber connects with the broader community.
- Membership Working Group: A recent directive from our executive have seen a review of membership tier benefits and to ensure we offer the best value to our members and their businesses. The working group is also excited to be identifying new membership opportunities to be announced in the near future.
- Events Working Group: Our events calendar is shaping up nicely, with industry-specific topics and collaborative events designed to foster networking and education among our members.
Community Engagement Highlights
- Lifeblood Blood Drive: To kick off Volunteer Week, our board members teamed up with Volunteering Gold Coast to support the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, saving 15 lives in one day!
- Fundraising Success: At the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation Giving Day, our Vice President and founder of LANDY Advisory, Josh Yates, assisted in raising over $228,000, surpassing our initial goal and significantly contributing to local health services.
- Podcast Appearance: Our President, Michael Kelly, recently featured on the latest episode of the RDA Gold Coast Insider podcast, discussing key business insights and chamber initiatives.
- Radio: VP Zac Revere spoke to ABC Gold Coast Radio to discuss the minimum wage rise and its impact on the Gold Coast small business community. He urged for innovation to lift the productivity rate before regulating a wage increase.
