What’s Been Happening Inside the Chamber: July 2024 Update
The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce has been buzzing with activity these past few months, here's a snapshot of what we've been up to.
Board of Management Update
Our recent board meeting on July 2, 2024, brought several exciting updates and decisions:
- President's Long Lunch: This event was a highlight on the Chamber’s social calendar, fostering stronger relationships and collaboration within our gold membership. You can read more about it and view the gallery from the Gold Coast Bulletin here.
- New Initiative for Quarterly Charity Support: The board voted to select a quarterly charity to fundraise for each quarter of the year. For this quarter, proceeds from our July event raffle will be donated to Fight 4 Youth.
- 2025 Strategic Plan: President Michael Kelly has asked VP Zac Revere to begin work on the 2025 strategic plan, incorporating insights from our June survey. The 2024 strategic plan has seen significant progress, with 71% of key deliverables either completed or in progress, and we are on track to achieve a projected 85% completion by the September AGM.
- Supporting Local Education - PBC Alliance Breakfast: The Chamber is excited to attend the Palm Beach Currumbin State High School through the PBC Alliance August Breakfast. This event offers a unique opportunity for our local business community to connect with the school's students, helping to bridge the gap between education and the business world.
Membership Working Group:
Our Membership Working Group is hard at work restructuring member benefits to better reflect their value. These new benefits, which will be available for member review shortly, aim to ensure every member experiences clear and tangible advantages from their Chamber membership. Additionally, the working group is focusing on improving the new member onboarding process to create a welcoming and supportive environment from the start.
Events Working Group:
July was a milestone month for our Events Working Group as we proudly delivered our fifth sold-out event of 2024. This achievement highlights the continued value and engagement our events bring to the business community. The team is now gearing up for our August networking event and has set its sights on the 2024 Christmas event and our September AGM. These events promise to provide more opportunities for networking, learning, and community building.
Strengthening Cross-Chambers Connections:
VP Zac Revere, has been representing the Southern Gold Coast Chamber in recent joint chamber meetings. These renewed relationships comes as each chamber undergoes leadership renewal and a joint refocus on member success. These meetings, which include every chamber president on the Gold Coast, aim to foster stronger relationships and open collaborative dialogue. The purpose is to plan exciting future initiatives and ensure that the value of a chamber membership is greatly enhanced.
