February 2020 Breakfast - The Benefits of Light Rail

“The benefits of Light Rail and importance of connecting the Southern Gold Coast”

With GoldlinQ Chairman, Mr John Witheriff

John Witheriff is a lifelong Gold Coaster and one of Australia’s foremost corporate, governance and risk practitioners, sought by both industry and government for his key strategic advice and counsel.

As Chairman of the GoldlinQ consortium, John Witheriff has helped successfully deliver Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Gold Coast light rail. Since opening to passengers in July 2014, more than 46 million passenger trips have been taken on G:link with the system changing the way people move across our city.

With the Queensland Government appointing GoldlinQ to undertake procurement for the 6.7 kilometre Stage 3A extension to Burleigh, John will provide an overview of:

  • the system’s success to date;
  • how light rail has changed travel behaviours
  • the wider impacts and benefits of the light rail since operations commenced; and
  • the current status and timelines of Stage 3A delivery.

Having John as our guest speaker represents an invaluable opportunity to learn more about how the G:link Light Rail is benefiting our growing city and what it means for our region as it makes its way south to Burleigh Heads.
