Introduction:

The Gold Coast and in particular the Southern Gold Coast, has been greatly impacted by COVID-19 over the past 12 months. A lack of overseas visitors holidaying and attending events in the region has also been compounded by a reduction in interstate and intrastate visitors due to its proximity to the QLD/NSW border.

At the same time, there have been major changes in the way Gold Coast approaches the acquisition and delivery of events through the newly established Major Events Gold Coast (MEGC), as well as the marketing of these events an key tourism precincts through Destination Gold Coast (DGC).

The Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce presents an opportunity to hear directly from the CEO’s of both of these key organisations outlining their vision and strategies for the Southern Gold Coast as we look at the ‘Road To Recovery’ for our vital Tourism & Events sectors. We’re also delighted to welcome the City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate to provide his closing remarks.
