Palm Beach Shoreline Project UPDATE
On the 25 March, Council endorsed the Palm Beach Shoreline Project (PBSP) moving into the next stage of the project – detailed design.
This means that the concept chosen as the best solution for Palm Beach will now be modelled physically and further numerically to test the assumptions and findings made during concept design.
Engineering Services Directorate, City of Gold Coast recently held the Palm Beach Sessions at the Palm Beach Community Lounge to update interested stakeholders on the progress of the Palm Beach Shoreline Project.
If you attended one of the sessions you can find a copy of the posters on our website goldcoast.qld.gov.au/documents/bf/pbsp-stakeholder-meeting-3.pdf
If you did not attend, the latest project update will give you an overview of what was discussed at those sessions - goldcoast.qld.gov.au/documents/bf/pbsp-project-update-may-2014.pdf
The next phase of the project that received Council endorsement on 25 March ‘14 is Detailed Design.
This phase will test through physical and further numerical modelling the concept design that has been recommended as the best Palm Beach Solution.
The concept design is beach replenishment stabilised by a rock reef (dubbed the 19th Reef as it sits off 19th Ave) and the completion of a continuous seawall along Palm Beach.
Further information on the recommended solution, as well as technical documents and drawings showing the placement of the reef and sand replenishment can also be found on the website at goldcoast.qld.gov.au/concept-design-information-17610.html
