State Update with Hermann Vorster – August 2026

ENERGY SAVINGS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

I know many local small businesses are doing it tough. I’ve spoken with owners across Burleigh, and rising costs are putting real pressure on their bottom line.

That’s why the Crisafulli LNP Government’s Energy Roadmap Price Drop matters.

Following a reduction in the Default Market Offer, households are now saving around 7 per cent and small businesses up to 10 per cent.

The Queensland Competition Authority investigated whether South East Queensland retailers were actually passing on these savings. The good news is most standing offers have fallen, with further savings available through competitive market offers.

But some retailers still aren’t doing the right thing. Some offers haven’t moved, while others have increased because of higher supply charges.

Check your latest bill and compare offers. If your retailer isn’t giving you a fair go, I want to hear about it – and I won’t hesitate to name and shame.
