2019 was the busiest year on record at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. The total admissions for 2019 were 12,198, compared to 11,082 the previous year. The hospital located at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a National Trust property and is one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world with the mission to treat, rehabilitate and release native wildlife.

The June meeting was a joint event hosted by the Creek to Creek Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce. The Gold Coast Airport recently announced Project Lift and is also currently master-planning for the next 20 years.

On 7 April we held our April breakfast at Currumbin RSL. The event was a joint breakfast with the Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce. Following the Council Elections it seemed fitting that we welcome our new Division 14 Councillor to talk to us all about her vision for the Division.

During the 2016 Local Council election process each candidate for the two local Divisions, 13 and 14, and the Mayoral candidates, were offered the opportunity to put their platform for election into 500 words for posting on our website. Sadly some didn’t respond and perhaps that was a measure of their hopes of being elected.

Representing the business community in regions under the proposed ILS flight path, the Southern Gold Coast, Creek to Creek and Gold Coast Central Chambers of Commerce have written letters to the Airport supporting the installation of an ILS.

On Friday May 8th a number of the Creek to Creek Committee members were invited to join a group of other interested parties to discuss and workshop the concepts being considered for the development of the Palm Beach commercial zone. Early in May, our new President, Hilary Jacobs and re-elected Vice President, Chris Ward, took time out to meet with Mayor Tom Tate at his offices in Southport. In a pro-active move to represent local business and community interests, The Creek to Creek Chamber of Commerce presented ideas for the Local Area Plan (LAP) to Gold Coast Mayor, Ron Clarke, at the latest Chamber meeting (May 6) at the Tarrabora Room, Palm Beach Parklands.
